Salt Marsh, John Biggers

Well known to current students, faculty and staff, John Biggers' Salt Marsh anchors the lobby of the Academic Support Building. A substantial acrylic on canvas, the piece was commissioned in 1996 to Biggers, an African American muralist and one of the founders of the art department at nearby Texas Southern University.

 

Tailgate, Rachel Hecker

Rachel Heckler was born in Providence, RI. She received a BFA in sculpture from Moore College of Art and an MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. She is an Associate Professor of painting at the University of Houston.
