UHD Wireless
The University of Houston-Downtown offers wireless access campus wide that is fast and secure for students, faculty, and staff. Any wireless device that supports wireless standards such as 802.11b, g, n, ac will be able to connect to UHD's secure wireless network. UHD is also a proud participant institution of eduroam.
- On your laptop, navigate to the list of wireless connections currently available.
- Windows: Click the wireless icon in your computer's system tray (bottom right near the clock).
- Mac: Click the wireless icon on the Menu Bar (top right).
- Select UHDWIFI to connect to the 5.0 GHz network.
- Don't see UHDWIFI? Select UHDLEGACY to be connected to the 2.4 GHz network. This is the network available for equipment not capable of connecting at 5.0GHz.
- A new window will request your username and password.
- Students, Faculty, and Staff: Type in your UHD network ID (username) and password.
- Alumni/Guest: Please see the instructions on how to obtain a username and password below under the Alumni and Guest Access section.
- A window will prompt you to store the new wireless certificate.
- Windows: Click OK to accept the new wireless certificate.
- Mac: A new window will prompt you for your computer credentials. This will allow your Mac to store the certificate.
- The windows will disappear and you will be connected to the secure UHD wireless network.

- Select UHDWIFI to connect to the 5.0 GHz network.
- Don't see UHDWIFI? Select UHDLEGACY to be connected to the 2.4 GHz network. This is the network available for equipment not capable of connecting at 5.0GHz.
- A new window will pop up requesting your username and password.
- Students, Faculty, and Staff: Type in your UHD network ID (username) and password.
- Alumni/Guest: Please see the instructions on how to obtain a username and password below under the Alumni and Guest Access section.
- A window may prompt you to store the new wireless certificate.
- Android: On first use you may be prompted to enter your credentials to store the certificate. Select PEAP as the primary authentication or EAP method.
- Mac: Click Trust to accept the new wireless certificate.
- The windows will disappear and you will be connected to the secure UHD wireless network.

Alumni Access - UHD Alumni may request a computer account for use on the wireless network. To request an account, please contact the Academic Computing Lab (Room S800, One Main Building). Alumni are required to abide by the Regulations for Using Academic Computing Facilities and Resources at University of Houston-Downtown.
Guest Access - Guest accounts for the UHD network are provided as a courtesy for official visitors of the University. To obtain a Guest Account, ask your campus sponsor to complete the Guest Network Account Request Form and submit this form to the Information Technology Office located in A700, Academic Building.
Do I need anything besides my wireless device to connect to UHD's wireless network?
Yes, you'll need a valid UHD network ID (username) and password along with your wireless
device.
I have a UHD network ID (username), but forgot my password. What should I do?
