Financial Aid Process Information for Parents
It is the goal of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to make the UHD financial
aid process as easy as possible for students and their families. Our office is required
to adhere to federal privacy regulations in regard to releasing the student’s financial
information.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal regulation that
protects the privacy of student education records. FERPA laws restrict student information
from being released to anyone aside from the student (including parents).
The student can grant written permission to third parties by submitting an Authorization
to Release Student Information Form to the Registrar’s office.
Please keep in mind that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available beginning October 1 for the following school year and must be
submitted to the University each year. The priority deadline that UHD would like for
students to meet is April 1. Meeting the priority deadline gives students the best
chance at being eligible for grant funding that is available on a first come, first
served basis. If a student does not meet the April 1 deadline, they can still submit
the application.
Please visit TASFA 101 for information regarding the TASFA.
