Private & External Scholarships
Private & External Scholarships include outside programs in which the processing of these funds flows through the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. These programs are selected by outside mechanisms, but are ultimately included in the financial aid/scholarship process. Scholarships awarded by external organizations are disbursed according to guidelines provided by the donor organization.
Private Scholarships External ScholarshipsOnce scholarships awards have been disbursed to students’ account, funds will be available for credit towards the students’ tuition and fee bill. If funds awarded are in excess of the students’ tuition and fee bill, a credit will be applied to student’s account and a refund may be issued through the University’s refunding vendor, BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc.. The Student Accounting Office is responsible for processing students’ refund payments.
IMPORTANT: Your financial aid from all sources cannot exceed the cost of attendance established by the University. If you receive a scholarship, whether it is from the college or from a private source, you should notify the Financial Aid Office. We are required to review your aid package to make sure that you are not receiving more aid than your total cost of attendance. In many cases we are able to include your scholarship or grant without adjusting any of your other aid, increasing the total amount of your aid package. However, sometimes we have to reduce or replace another form of aid. In that case, we always attempt to reduce or replace any loans that you might have been offered first. We strongly encourage you to explore all scholarship opportunities as valuable means to help finance your college education.
