B.B.A. in Accounting; B.B.A. in Enterprise Information Systems; B.B.A. in Finance; B.B.A. in Insurance and Risk Management; B.B.A. in International Business; B.B.A. in General Business; B.B.A. in Management; B.B.A. in Marketing; B.B.A in Supply Chain Management.
Declaration of a Business major is a two-step process that begins by applying to the College of Business. Upon admission to the COB, you'll be notified at your UHD Gator Account with instructions to proceed to the Advising Office. It is strongly recommended that students apply for a major upon eligibility, to determine applicability of transfer credits and to meet with a College of Business Advisor.
Consistent with the University of Houston-Downtown’s commitment to quality undergraduate education, the College of Business adopts this policy regarding admissions, the declaration of majors, course enrollment and requirements for graduation for BBA degree programs. Effective January 19, 2010, current students and new transfer students must have of 2.50 or higher to declare their major in the College of Business.
An advisor must authorize registration for Upper Level College of Business courses. Undeclared majors must start with General Academic Advisors on the Third Floor; a referral will be sent on your behalf if necessary. Students not admitted to the College of Business who wish to take Upper Level CoB courses must have an overall grade point average of 2.0 on course work completed at the UHD and meet other requirements. Students may be dropped from any class for which they lack a prerequisite or co-requisite. A course that is a co-requisite for another course may not be dropped unless the student drops both courses.
Once admitted to the College of Business, students are not assigned a particular person as their advisor. Any member of the team can help with questions about degree requirements and UHD policies. Advising is handled during flexible hours, including late evenings. Students must schedule their Initial Advising appointment immediately upon admission to the College of Business.
Advising is by Appointment Only, please call 713-221-8675. Advisors are always busier during registration, so plan ahead and visit them prior to pre-registration to avoid long waits.
Students are responsible for meeting the requirements for graduation of the College of Business as well as those of the university. One requirement is that students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA on all course work taken in the College of Business to receive a BBA. The final 30 semester credit hours of course work toward the degree must be taken at UH-Downtown. Prior to that time, students who wish to take junior and senior level courses at another college or university, including any other campus of the UH System, and apply the credits earned toward their degree must request approval through the Advising Office in Room B101. Courses taken without such approval will not be counted toward the fulfillment of degree requirements. For degree completion, at least 25 percent of the semester credit hours must be earned through instruction offered by UHD. Additionally, 18 of the last 30 hours must be in upper division course work as approved by College of Business. Only the Dean of the College of Business may waive any portion of these requirements and only upon written petition by a student who has demonstrated extraordinary ability.
To apply for graduation and receive approval for BA 4302 an application for graduation must be filed with Dr. Carmen Cuevas. (BA 4302 Prerequisites: a declared business major, completion of ALL General Education Requirements, and completion of ALL Business Core Requirements.)
Applications for graduation may be printed from the college's website; they are also sent to the UHD/COB Gator Accounts each semester. Please complete the application, then submit it B101 or fax to 713-226-5239.
