The Computer Information Systems (CIS) curriculum, based on a national model curriculum developed by educators and computer professionals, was endorsed by the Association for Information Technology Professionals, the Association for Computing Machinery, the Association for Information Systems, and has been adopted by leading universities across the nation. Utilizing CIS as a MINOR enables students to enrich their major with additional business skills in areas such as: information systems concepts, information technology architecture and infrastructure, software development and programming languages, data communications, and database development, while still providing students with a choice of their electives.
The CIS program is frequently updated by the CIS faculty who strive to include recommendations of an industry advisory board comprised of information technology professionals from major local corporations and public institutions. In the fast-paced field of CIS, frequent updates are often necessary in order to keep abreast of newly emerging information technologies and business methods.
