Cultural Enrichment Center Events

October 2, 2014, Evening reading by Czech poet Sylva Fischerová, 5:30 p.m., A-436, Academic Building. Fischerová's book of poems, The Stomach of the Soul, is being published by Calypso Editions, with Dr. Davidson as managing editor (organized by Dr. Davidson).

October 9, 2014, A reading by poet and novelist Laura Long. 5:30 p.m. in Robertson Auditorium, 3rd Fl. Academic Building. Laura Long has one new novel, Out of Peel Tree, and two poetry collections, The Eye of Caroline Herschel: A Life in Poems and Imagine a Door. Long will read again as part of the opening night of Houston Poetry Fest, which takes place on October 10, 11, and 12 at the Willow St. Pump Station.

October 21, 2014, "Understanding Drug-Related Spanish Slang along the Border" 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., location: TBA. A talk by Dr. Rafael Saldívar Arreola
