I have always enjoyed reading; my love for books began when I was small. My mother would often take me to the library to check out books so reading became something I enjoyed. This is why I am majoring in English. In the future, I plan to work for a non-profit organization.

Major: Professional Writing
I am a senior and expected to graduate in the summer of 2015. I’ve recently developed a passion for Public Relations and am planning on pursuing this newfound interest as much as I can. When I am not at work, behind my desk filing and managing appointments, I am at home spending all my free time reading novels and writing stories.

Major: Political Science
For as long as I can remember, Political Science has been my center of attention and I have found over the years that well developed writing skills is the key to success. English is a subject that I enjoy very much and I have developed a deeper understanding of the mechanics over the years. As President of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority Inc. Xi Chapter, writing memos, constitutions, and by laws have brought me back to my love of writing. Writing is in everything I do and is a large stepping stone towards my future career as a lawyer. I have always strived to be a lawyer because I enjoy the details, writings, court cases, and the history behind such a crucial profession.

Minor: Film Studies
I became interested in English through my British Literature Courses and decided to make English my major. I enjoy reading, analyzing, and writing about different works of poetry, prose, plays, and films. Coincidentally my English courses were Film Studies classes and there I learned to adapt what I had learned about writing to film and really loved it. I am a member of Sigma Tau Delta the English Honor Society. In Spring 2014, I won an English Upper Division award for my paper on the film The Birds. I am also fluent in Spanish.

Major: English
I have an interest in the creative process of writing. This interest has led me to major in English here at UHD. Having read a wide range of literatures across different genres for academia and pleasure, I find that reading has helped me to craft my own work. Creative writing, writing analyses, and arguments are my favorite types of composition. Some of my favorite classes include English 3309: Intro to Creative Writing and English 3307: Shakespeare. In Spring 2014, I made the Dean’s List.
