College Scholarships

100 Club Scholarship Fund

Award Full Scholarship, including tuition, fees, parking and books.
Eligibility
  • A certified peace officer currently employed by a 100 Club member agency.
  • Recommended as in good standing by your agency chief.
  • Completed 60 semester hours that apply to the UHD CJ degree.
  • Overall grade point average of 2.5 of higher.
  • Approval by 100 club.

ASIS Scholarship

Award The MSME Program will establish standard funding for each scholarship in the amount of $3,000 for the term of one Calendar year. Should sufficient funding be available, the scholarship awards may be increased to a maximum of $6,000 each.

Clarence Kendall/100 Club Endowment Scholarship Fund

Award Awarded every 4 years, covers a student entirely for the 4 year period.
Eligibility
  • Eligible applicants include juniors and seniors in high school. Preference will be given to students at the High School for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.
  • A letter of application stating your academic standing, professional and academic plans, and need should be submitted.
  • Scholarship applicant must have at least a B average upon graduation from high school.
  • Scholarship applicant must major in Criminal Justice at the University of Houston-Downtown.
  • Scholarship applicant’s intent must be to become a TCLEOSE certified Law Enforcement Officer in the greater Houston area.

  • Must have graduated from Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Texas.
  • Must be a declared Major in the department of Urban Education.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 of higher and be enrolled for a minimum of 9 semester credit hours at UHD.

Award $12,000/year scholarship to UHD
Eligibility
  • U.S. citizens or nationals, or permanent resident aliens
  • Junior or Senior status

Award $8,000/year scholarship to UHD
Eligibility
  • Students with junior-level standing are eligible for this program.
  • Post-baccalaureates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Students must have a 3.0 GPA overall in their science courses to be eligible for this scholarship.

William Joseph "Dr. Joe" Kortz Memorial Scholarship

Award Awards will be made in the amount of $600.00 per student once a year in the spring semester.
Eligibility
  • Students who have been officially admitted to the Urban Education program.
  • Students who have a minimum 2.9 GPA.
  • Students who have demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, a commitment to teaching in urban schools, and community involvement.
  • Student issued transcript.
