Scholarships and Financial Aid Information

 

In order to assist you with locating financial aid, we are supplying the following information. Since this is not a complete list of possible resources, we suggest that you consult the UHD Financial Aid Office.

Gordon & Mary Cain Student Teacher Academic Merit Scholarship

The Gordon and Mary Cain Student Teacher Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for students who will be enrolling in Block III and student teaching in the upcoming semester. READ MORE

UHD Noyce Mathematics Teacher Scholarship Program

The UHD Noyce Mathematics Teacher Scholarship program provides $12,000 annual scholarships to UHD students who are majoring in mathematics while concurrently earning secondary mathematics teacher certification in the Urban Education department. READ MORE

UHD Noyce Science Teacher Scholarship Program

This program prepares and educates science majors for careers in science education at the secondary school level. You will work with UHD faculty from the Departments of Natural Sciences and Urban Education, and with a science teacher at a local high school. This $8,000 academic year scholarship is supplemented with stipends for training during the academic year and summer, which can increase your total financial assistance to $10,000. READ MORE

Tenneco Teacher Education Scholarship

The Tenneco Teacher Education Scholarship is for graduates of Jefferson Davis High School. The Tenneco Teacher Education Scholarship Reapplication Form should be used by students who wish to receive the scholarship in subsequent semesters following their initial application. DOWNLOAD THE FORM

Urban Education Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to help support students in the teacher education program at the University of Houston-Downtown. Specifically, the scholarship will assist students with course and textbook fees during any one (1) of the three (3) semesters in which they are taking their Professional Development Sequence; that being the two semesters in which they are serving as interns in public schools and the one semester in which they are student teaching. A student may receive the scholarship for one semester. Awards are based on available funds and should not be expected as a matter of course.READ MORE

William Joseph "Dr. Joe" Kortz Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to help support students in the teacher education program at the University of Houston-Downtown. Specifically, the scholarship will help students purchase a computer. Awards will be made in the amount of 600.00 per student once a year in the spring semester. Two scholarships will be awarded. READ MORE
