The University of Houston-Downtown's Department of Urban Education currently offers two Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs:
Designed to help existing teachers advance their expertise, both online programs will prepare future educators to teach in urban classrooms.
Our emphasis on urban teaching makes this graduate degree unique. In order to meet the special needs of all children in urban classrooms, students completing their MAT degree will demonstrate competency in the following areas:

A unique scholarship opportunity is being offered to six MAT or MAT/Certification students currently admitted in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at UHD. This unique Cain Graduate Scholarship is a one year scholarship in the amount of $10,000. The scholarship will include Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 semesters. It will pay $5,000 per semester to recipients. Click here to read more.
