Step 1: General Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. If you attended a college or university outside the United States, your transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation service recognized by UHD. Click here for a list of suggested credential evaluation services.
  • GPA: must be a minimum of 2.5
  • International Students: If you are a graduate of a university in which English is not the primary language of instruction, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 600 is required for the paper-based test, a minimum score of 240 is required for the computer-based test or a minimum of 81 is required for the internet-based test.

Step 2: Application

  • Application: Submit your graduate application via ApplyTexas.
  • Application Fee: $35 Graduate Application Processing Fee
  • Deadline*: August 1 for fall admission and November 15 for spring admission

*Only files fully completed by the dadline will be reviewed for admissions.

Step 3: Take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)

  • Register for the GRE exam here.
  • Study for the GRE exam. Click here to view the recommended study materials.
  • GRE scores are required** (takes an average of 6 weeks waiting for scores).

**Candidates who have a GPA of 3.56 or higher GPA should be verified by an outside source if you are choosing not to take the GRE.

Step 4: Submit Required Forms

  • Official transcripts.
  • A personally written statement.
    Topic: How do you believe your educational and professional background will contribute to your success in the program?
  • Three professional recommendations from individuals who have observed you working in an educational setting. Click here to download the recommendation form.
  • Submit all documentations to:

International Students

Please note that the fully online delivery of our MAT programs forbids international students on an F1 visa from applying, as they can only complete one online course in a semester. The format of our degree requires students to enroll in a minimum of 6 hours on our scheduled rotation, both of which are online.
