Prof. Sangeeta Gad is the director of recruitment and outreach activities in the Center for Computational Sciences (CCSDS) at UH-D. As a part of the center’s efforts to further generate interest in the fields of Science, Technology, engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. I coordinate a summer enrichment program Houston PREP , targeted to benefit minority students in middle and high schools. These programs develop student’s aptitudes in STEM fields, and also give them a willing edge for the upcoming school year. These programs also involve training teachers to systemic approaches to integrate the use of the computer-based modeling and scientific visualization in science and mathematics. As director of the recruitment for CCSDS, I recruit students to the scholarship programs, guide them for the research and graduate school opportunities. But keeping in touch with my passion for teaching, I am a faculty member for the Computer and Mathematical Sciences department. I serve on the Greater Houston P-16 council.
