This Bachelor of Science program provides both a broad-based curriculum in the Liberal Arts and in the Natural Sciences and a set of courses specifically directed toward the field of Biotechnology. This degree is particularly appropriate for students interested in the rapidly expanding field of biotechnology. This rigorous interdisciplinary program provides both entry-level jobs skills in biotechnology and strong academic background needed to pursue a masters or doctorate degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or Molecular Biology. Students who have earned an Associate of Science in Biotechnology from Lone Star College can earn a B.S. in Biotechnology or B.S. in Biological and Physical Sciences through the 2+2 UHD-LSC articulation agreement. Students should contact Dr. Phil Lyons for Biotechnology or Dr. Ken Johnson for Biological and Physical Sciences for more information. The degree plans shown at this site do not apply to this program.
The approved degree plan for this program will be determined through consultation among the student, his/her advisor in the Department of Natural Sciences, and the chairperson of the Department of Natural Sciences. A minimum of 120 hours of university-level course work is required to complete all graduation requirements.
