The Bachelor of Science in Microbiology provides the necessary academic -technical knowledge and skills for entry and success in health related industries, industries or agencies that maintain environmental health and monitoring programs or graduate programs in biomedical sciences. Students are encouraged to take advantage of appropriate co-op experiences available in the Houston area or to pursue graduate-level studies in microbiology or related areas. Students are encouraged to participate in an appropriate field experience or research activity as part of their curriculum.
The approved degree plan for this program will be determined through consultation among the student, his/her advisor in the Department of Natural Sciences, and the chairperson of the Department of Natural Sciences. A minimum of 120 hours of university-level course work is required to complete all graduation requirements.
