M.S., Inorganic Chemistry, University of Kentucky, 1976.

B.S., Chemistry, Murray State University, 1970.

Honors and Awards

Received President’s Award for “Research, Education and Leadership in the Development of UV/EB Technology” from RadTech International North America, January 2006.

Selected for “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2005” as a result of a nomination from a chemistry graduate of UH-Downtown, April 2005.

Awarded “UHD Success Builder, 2003” as a result of the nomination of two research students. This program recognizes faculty who involve themselves significantly in student mentoring activities and is student initiated, 2003.

Selected for “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2002” as a result of a nomination from a former general chemistry student, March 2002.

Received the Outstanding Achievement Award from The American Chemical Society and ITT Technical Institute - Houston West, November 5, 1999.

Awarded “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2000”, October 1999. Nominated for Who’s Who in Polymers and Plastics, 1999.

Served as Grand Marshal for the 1998 Spring Commencement Exercises for UH-Downtown, May 1998

Represented UH-Downtown as a Marshal for the Investiture of Arthur K. Smith as Chancellor of the UH-System, November 14, 1997.

Nominated by the Dean of the College of Sciences and Technology for the Carnegie Foundation “Professor of the Year” award in May 1997 and May 1998.

Inducted into the UH-Downtown Chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, May 1, 1997.

Awarded two United States Patents: # 4,687,806, “Method of Reducing Viscosity of Radiation Curable Acrylate Functional Resin”; # 4,719,131, “Thermally Curable Polyacrylate Compositions”, August 1987 and January 1988, respectively.

Commissioned as a “Kentucky Colonel” by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, February 6, 1979.
