Freshman Applicants
Applications are accepted year-round. For priority consideration, apply 60 days before the start of the fall/spring semester. High school applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible within their senior year. The application for Scholars Academy is available below:
General Scholarship Requirements
- Minimum unweighted overall 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- Minimum SAT test score of 1,000 (500 each on mathematics and critical reading sections); or equivalency on other standardized exams
- Credit for at least Pre-Calculus in high school preferred
- Be enrolled at UHD as a full-time student and a member of the Scholars Academy
- Declare your major within one of the following departments at UHD: Computer and Mathematical Sciences (CMS); Engineering Technology; or Natural Sciences
- Most scholarships require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency; however, internationals are still invited to apply

Acceptance for UHD Admissions will be required upon acceptance into the Scholars Academy. To apply for UHD admissions, go to www.applytexas.org and create an "ApplyTexas" account.
Renewal Eligibility
Eligibility for renewal each semester requires Scholars Academy (SA) scholarship recipients to actively fulfill SA requirements including a CSP course, orientations, mentoring activities, seminars, field trips, questionnaires, on-campus events, and possibly other requirements based on the specific scholarship awarded. Plus, each SA scholarship recipients must maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum GPA each semester while pursuing a major within the UHD College of Sciences and Technology.
