Log into Blackboard

Log in to Blackboard from the UHD Blackboard page. Use the same login information that you use to log in to computers on campus. If you have not yet received your login information or you have forgotten it, you can contact the Help Desk at x3000 (713-221-8031 from off campus) and they can help you.

Activate Your Blackboard Course

You must activate your course if you want your students to have access to it during the semester. If you have a fully online or hybrid class, it will automatically activate on the first day of class. When you are ready for your students to access your course, you can go to Faculty/Staff e-Services and activate the course from Manage Blackboard. Course Cartridges

A course cartridge is content provided by your textbook publisher that can be imported into your Blackboard course. Included content can be assessments, content modules, assignments, as well as other tools you and your students can use. See our course cartridge instructions for more information.

Acquire any course cartridge or other publisher materials as soon as possible. Textbook publishers get very busy at the start of a semester, so play safe and order early. The Blackboard Support Team can make a development course for your course cartridge if you have received one before the semester has started. If you need a development course made, email us at and we will provide you with one.

Combining Sections

If you are teaching multiple sections of the same course and would like to use just one Blackboard course for all of them, you will need to use the Manage Blackboard interface in Faculty/Staff e-Services in order to combine the courses.

Important: Combine courses before developing the content in your course. Combining courses creates a new course space, and any previous content you had will be lost. If you have already made content but would like to combine your sections, call us at 713-221-2786 and we can work out a solution. Or, if you lost your content by combining, call us and we can put the content into the course.

Develop Content: If you have already combined your sections or do not plan to combine sections, you can begin to develop the content inside of your Blackboard course.
