Help Desk and Training

User support for Faculty and Staff is provided through a centralized help desk (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.), with technicians providing support over the phone, in person in IT areas (IT main office, TTLC, ACL, Commerce Lab), and in users' offices.   General student technology support is provided through the academic computing labs during the lab hours of operation.   Limited support is provided for faculty and staff home users, including support with accessing university resources (via VPN, PPP/dial-up, or private ISPs) and consultation regarding technology purchases and setup of equipment and software. There is a WebCT hotline that is used for faculty and student support, with real time response during the day (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and an opportunity to leave a message after hours.

Logging a Call with the IT Help Desk:

  • Call x3000 or 713-221-8031 or send e-mail to help@uhd.edu.
  • Be prepared to provide your name, extension, office number and the equipment type.
  • Provide a detailed description of the problem.
  • A tracking number (call number) will be assigned to you. Please refer to this call number when checking it's status.

Training and Seminars

Regularly scheduled face-to-face training classes are available to faculty and staff. Visit http://training.uhd.edu for more information or to sign up to attend training classes. Individualized training may also be arranged by appointment, 713-221-8200.
