Lecture Capture with Mediasite
What is Lecture Capture?
Lecture capture records classroom-based activities in a digital format that students can then watch over the web, or their mobile device. Lecture capture will record the presenter's audio and video, as well as any visual aids. It will also capture a myriad of devices including tablets, laptops, whiteboards and document cameras and then and then synchronizes them with audio and video, into webcasts that stream on-demand for playback.
The term 'lecture capture' is often used in conjunction with other terms such as e-learning, video-based instruction, online classes, blended education, hybrid courses, distance education, coursecasting, virtual classrooms, virtual learning environments, academic capture and more.
Lecture Capture using Mediasite
Mediasite is a lecture capture system that enables UHD faculty to capture video and audio from a room along with whatever he or she is presenting through a computer. This enables students to revisit theses lecture captures at their convenience by clicking on a link in Blackboard courses. In viewing presentations captured by Mediasite, students will have the added feature of selecting individual slides to advance the audio to a particular part of the presentation without having to fast-forward or rewind a video. Click HERE for examples of lectures captured from many different fields.
Other uses of Mediasite include any type of educational instruction: student presentations; collaborative exercises; lab demonstrations and guest speakers.
If you are using one of the designated lecture capture rooms, contact Albert Holden at, 713-221-8213 or via e-mail email@example.com to setup a schedule for lecture captures and training sessions. Lecture capture rooms are limited so requests will be scheduled on a first come first served basis.
A portable Mediasite unit can be used in non-designated lecture capture rooms. Call Multimedia Services, 713-221-8190 to for check out dates and training sessions.
