| Multimedia Equipment Distribution |
Multimedia Services maintains an inventory of presentation and production equipment which can be checked out to faculty and staff for classroom instruction and administrative presentations. Media carts, LCD projectors, TV/DVD/VCR, laptops, camcorders and digital cameras are among the items that can be reserved by completing the Multimedia Equipment Reservation form, or by contacting the Multimedia Office, room A724, telephone:713-221-8190. Multimedia equipment is not available for checkout by students. Faculty are requested to schedule any equipment required for classroom student presentations. Equipment reservations should be made 24 hours prior to the time it is needed. Faculty or staff wishing to use Multimedia equipment off-campus must have the approval of the Multimedia Coordinator and the approval of their direct supervisor. |
| Multimedia Equipment Purchasing Consultation |
The Multimedia/ITV staff is available to assist faculty and staff in selecting equipment which will best meet their instruction or presentation needs. They can also help you plan and design a facility upgrade, or suggest the names of vendors. Contact Lloyd Matzner, 713-221-8199 for more information. |
| Classroom Technology Operation and Maintenance Support |
The Multimedia staff oversees the operation and maintenance of all general use classrooms, lecture halls, Willow Street Pump Station and the Cullen Auditorium. Many classrooms are equipped with permanently installed presentation equipment: teaching podium with computer, document camera and dvd/vcr player, and a ceiling mounted video/data projector. The Multimedia staff provides regularly scheduled training on how to use classroom technology. Instruction is also provided on an as needed basis. The Multimedia staff checks all classrooms weekly, performs testing of operating systems and conducts preventative maintenance on equipment. If you should encounter problems with classroom equipment, please contact the Multimedia office, 713-221-8244. |
| Special Event Presentation Planning and Operational Support |
Many campus meetings, conference and special events require the use of presentation technology to support that event. The Multimedia staff should be contacted regarding all events that require the use of equipment or need operator support. The Multimedia staff can advise the event planner as to what equipment will best meet their presentation requirements and determine whether the activity can be supported by in -room systems or determine if additional equipment will be required. Fees are charged to clients for equipment, support for events not directly supporting classroom instruction, and for events held in the evening and on weekends. | Multimedia Training for Faculty, Staff and Students |
The Multimedia/ITV staff provides training to faculty, staff and students on a variety of topics. These include Operation of Classroom Technology, Digital Photography, Poster Printing, Audio Recording, Video Recording and Editing, Creating Digital Signage etc. Please check the TLS Training calendar to see a list of upcoming training programs. The Multimedia staff can also provide as needed training to individual faculty and to departments. |
| Multimedia Production and Presentation Support |
The Multimedia/ITV staff is available to work with faculty and staff to produce or assist in production of instructional and promotional media for use in the classroom and in outreach activities. The staff can show you how to convey a message that can inform and persuade an audience using a variety of rich media, photo imagery, PowerPoint presentations and digital video productions. |
| Digital Photography |
Multimedia Services staff can take location or studio photos to complement instruction, support professional presentations or capture special events. The department maintains a small inventory of “point and shoot” digital cameras” which can be checked out to faculty and staff. |
| Graphic Production |
| The Multimedia staff can assist clients with flyer and poster design, printing, lamination and mounting of materials. |
| Multimedia Program Sales and Duplication and Distribution |
Commencement videos and an instructional telecourse are sold by Multimedia Services. Customers can order online for both types of programs. In addition, the Multimedia/ITV staff can duplicate audio and video cassette tapes, CD’s, DVD’s and transfer 16 mm films to video. The Multimedia office abides by national copyright policies. Customers must provide proof of ownership and or permission prior to contracting for any duplication services. |
| Poster Printing |
The Multimedia office in conjunction with the IT User Support staff provides large format HP Poster Printing. Students, faculty and staff can create high quality color posters for use in class presentations and for marketing campus activities and special events. Please see the poster price list for more information and charges. Clients should allow a minimum of 48 hours advance notice when placing all poster orders.

All posters orders for student organizations and functions should be directed to the Student Activities Office which has their own poster printer. If posters are printed for student groups they should be charged at the UHD Academic/Administration rate. |
| TLS Conference Rooms Reservations |
The Multimedia office is responsible for reserving the use of TLS Conference Rooms A711 and A701. A711 can accommodate 30 people and A701 can accommodate 20 people. Both rooms have high quality presentation systems that include a presenter computer and ceiling-mounted video data projection. These rooms are ideal for web conferences and committee meetings. Please email Multimedia Services or call x8190 to reserve a date and time for your meeting. |
