Job Summary

The Director, Information Technology Infrastructure and Communication Services maintains responsibility for IT infrastructure services and technology, including data center operations and video, data, and voice networks. The Director also has responsibility for IT technology inventory, maintenance, and support.

Duties

  • Manages the department budget.
  • Collaborates with IT leadership and administrators on strategic IT planning initiatives; assesses needs and plans future developments and directions.
  • Plans and directs data center operations, including offsite and disaster recovery processes.
  • Oversees the design and technical operations of the university's voice and video services, including call centers, auto dialers, digital signage, and video collaboration services.
  • Serves as IT liaison with internal and external groups to determine IT needs for projects.
  • Oversees IT equipment lifecycle management, including receiving, testing, distributing, and retiring IT equipment.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in CIS, Engineering, or a related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related job experience

License/Certification:

  • None required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of data center operations; knowledge of voice, data, and video networking.

Skills:

  • Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and AutoCAD;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Abilities:

  • Ability to lead and manage a team;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical, comfortable interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks. May, on rare occasions, require working in inclement weather conditions. May, on rare occasions, be exposed to the risk of electric shock. Must have good spatial awareness and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. May occasionally be required to assist with moving items of up to 100lbs.
