Job Summary

The Graphic Designer conceptualizes and creates imagery for electronic, printed, and multimedia materials to enhance their communication and overall quality, while maintaining the university's aesthetic branding.

Duties

  • Designs and produces high quality images, for internal and external constituents, for print and digital projects
  • Designs and draws mock-ups for new or large projects as required
  • Assists with the design and creation of marketing materials
  • Coordinates with external agencies, services and printers by acquiring quotes, maintaining relationships and overseeing various print jobs
  • Assists with the development of visual resources
  • Selects designs, including colors, images, text styles, and layout, which maintain the university's brand standards
  • Maintains creative flexibility while staying within the parameters of the university's graphic standards

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Associate's degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of related job experience, and must be able to show a portfolio of projects or work completed

License/Certification:

  • None required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of video editing and design software and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices

Skills:

  • Good design skills; strong technical skills, including proficiency in Adobe Software and photo and video editing software;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; good project management skills

Abilities:

  • Ability to meet deadlines; ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university community

Work Location and Physical Demands

Primary Work Location:

  • Works in an office environment

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
  • Must have precise hand-eye coordination, good spatial awareness, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Must have the ability to move items of up to 50lbs
