Job Summary

The Manager of Graphic Design is an integral member of the marketing department for University Relations at UHD. This position provides creative guidance, shapes design direction, and creates designs from concept through production.

Duties

  • Supports UHD marketing and communications by producing high-quality internal and external marketing pieces for print and digital campaigns.
  • Maintains the aesthetic branding and mission of the university through design.
  • Maintains design projects for UHD resulting in an integrated strategy to advance the UHD brand.
  • Maintains UHD brand standards by communicating best design practices.
  • Monitors the graphic design work of other departments to ensure it adheres to basic rules of design and branding.
  • Designs, develops and delivers graphics, visual text, and imagery for institutional branding, as well as program, event and executive marketing, for both digital and print media.
  • Assists in the development of student design interns; provides instruction and direction to students to further promote the university brand.
  • Works independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Meets time-sensitive requests through effective communication, time management, follow-through, and high-quality design.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Shows clients various creative options while selecting colors, images, text style and layout that maintains brand standards.
  • Maintains flexibility, organization, and the ability to understand the brand.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Communications, Marketing, Fine Arts, or a related field

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in brand management, advertising, graphic design, or related design-based field.

License/Certification:

  • None required

Preferred Qualifications

  • An understanding of marketing in Higher Education

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of best practices for producing a wide variety of media assets, including resolution and ratios;
  • Knowledge of all pertinent computer applications relating to design production, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and Microsoft Office (in particular PowerPoint).

Skills:

  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
