Scope of Responsibilities
Dr. Uzman oversees academic affairs for the college with an emphasis on academic quality of curriculum, high-impact practices, faculty teaching and scholarship, and student academic support. He establishes a strategic vision for the college, guides departments and centers with the implementation of university and college strategic plans, evaluates full-time faculty for promotion, and monitors business processes in the college. Dr. Uzman also establishes and supports student success initiatives and practices in the college and the university, and support staff and faculty development towards career advancement and leadership.
Educational Qualifications
Dr. Uzman earned his Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Science in Environmental Health Sciences and Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is also a Founding Fellow at the Partnership for Undergraduate Life Sciences Education.
Professional Experience
Dr. Uzman has served in the College of Sciences & Technology for over 25 years as a faculty member, department chair, and interim dean. He also served as interim provost for one year prior to his appointment as dean.
