Things to Know before Contacting Your Legislators

University employees (faculty, staff and student workers) may always contact their legislators as private citizens, however University policy and statutes prohibit UHD employees from contacting legislators in their University role except in limited circumstances and when specifically requested by administration.

University time, titles, equipment, stationery, email accounts, and other materials may not be used to achieve any political purpose.

UHD employees who contact their elected officials as private citizens should clearly state they are acting as private citizens and do so on their own time with their own resources.

For more information, please reference Government Code Chapter 556.
