Frequently Asked Questions
1.) Where do I go once inside Minute Maid Park?
All graduates must report to the Atrium entrance at 8:30 a.m.
Student entrance is off of Texas Avenue between Jackson Street and Crawford St (see attached map) at the Atrium. This is also where graduates will exit.
2.) Where will I be sitting inside Minute Maid Park?
Graduates will be seated in the stands directly in front of the stage.
3.) How much is parking and where is it located?
Everyone attending events at Minute Maid Park must pay $7.00 in the controlled parking lots (see map). There is some metered parking around the Park that is free on Sunday's ONLY.
4.) Can I leave my purse in the robing area.
No. You are advised to take all valuables with you to your seat. Neither Minute Maid Park or UHD are liable for any losses. You must carry everything you bring with you.
5.) Can I leave during the ceremony?
No.
6.) How long does the ceremony last?
About 2.5 hours.
7.) Do you have an extra tassel/cap/robe?
The bookstore representatives will have a few caps, gowns and tassels available at their table as long as supplies last.
8.) When does formal check-in begin?
Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. just inside Atrium Entrance.
9.) What should I do with my name card?
It is critical that you hold on to the name card you receive during check in, DO NOT LOSE IT, carry it with you until you are asked for it on the field before you enter the stage to receive your scroll.
10.) Where do we get programs?
Programs are provided at the Atrium Entrance for graduates and at all other entrances for guests.
11.) How will I know to go to the stage?
Following remarks by the UHD Regents, the UHD President and the keynote speech students will be instructed to stand one row at a time. You will be lined up on the field to the right of the stage. When your name is called proceed to the stage.
12.) Who should I follow when the procession begins.
Follow the person directly in front of you at all times.
13.) Where should my tassel be?
Before commencement, your tassel should be on your right. Once everyone has walked and received the commencement scroll, the president will tell graduates to shift their tassel from right to left.
14.) My family member needs special assistance (wheelchair seating, etc.) where can he/she sit?
Handicap drop off is located at Texas Avenue near Avenidas De Las Americas. Handicap parking is located in Right Field Parking. Also, guests can take the elevator from the concourse to the Club Level. There is plenty of wheelchair accessible seating both in the stands and inside the Club Level.

15.) Where may my guests enter?
Right Field and Center Field Entrance will be open for guests. (see map)
Guest entrances are located on Texas Avenue, Crawford St and off of the Diamond Parking Lot as designated on the attached map. We recommend guests exit through the same entrances they have entered and meet all graduates on Texas Avenue.
16. What should I wear?
You must wear the approved black cap and gown sold in the UHD bookstore. You should dress comfortably underneath and wear sensible shoes since a lot of walking is involved.
December Graduates: There is not heat inside Minute Maid Park, please dress accordingly and encourage your guests to plan for cooler temperatures.
17. What should not be brought into Minute Maid Park?
No helium balloons or outside food and beverages are allowed to be brought inside the ballpark.
There is a stroller check inside the building on the Main Concourse behind Home Plate. Strollers are not allowed in the stands.
