MAINTAINING VA BENEFITS
Satisfactory progress
In order to continue receiving benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs, you must maintain satisfactory progress in your coursework.
The VA's standard of satisfactory progress is maintaining a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or above.
If your GPA falls below a 2.0, you will be placed on probation the semester following and allowed two long semesters (long semesters are the Fall and Spring terms) to raise your cumulative GPA above 2.0.
If you fail to raise your cumulative GPA above 2.0 after two long semesters, you will be suspended indefinitely from receiving VA benefits.(The VA has resources available for the veterans benefits eligible student to aid their progress toward their degree goals, including tutorial assistance and counseling services).
Tutorial assistance
Tutorial assistance is available if you are receiving VA educational assistance at the half-time or more rate and have a deficiency in a subject making tutoring necessary. If you have questions on this program please contact the VA at 1-888-442-4551.
