Upcoming Exhibition

Lauren Kussro
Intervals
February 6 - April 3, 2025
Reception for artist: February 6, from 5 - 8 p.m.

The beauty and complexity of the universe invites Kussro to explore and discover. The artist is inspired by the vast strata of details, and worlds within worlds found throughout creation - from galaxies to cells. Layers upon layers wait to be revealed to the curious, patient observer. Kussro also looks to human intellect, emotions, and to spirituality where she finds deep wells of mystery - continuously unfolding and growing. For Kussro, the act of making is closely linked with her faith and she sees it as an ongoing spiritual discipline - a tangible way of investigating, processing, and communicating her ideas and beliefs, which like her art, evolves and matures.

Kussro attended the Herron School of Art & Design at Indiana University – Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) for her undergraduate studies, earning a BFA in Painting and Printmaking in 2003, and graduating with high distinction. In 2006 she completed her MFA degree in Printmaking at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Kussro currently teaches printmaking at the University of Houston – Clear Lake in Houston, TX, where she is an Associate Professor of Art and Design.

Kussro’s work has been shown in various locations around the country. Highlights include solo exhibitions at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Bradbury Art Museum in Jonesboro, AR, as well as participation in juried exhibitions at Kai Lin Art in Atlanta, the Dadian Gallery in Washington D.C., and the Manhattan Graphics Center in New York. Her creative research is centered in a playful investigation of the natural world.
