Dr. Abdelnasser Hussein is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership in the Urban Education department
at UHD's College of Public Service. He earned his Ph.D. in Education from the University
of Rhode Island. Dr. Hussein has served as a chaplain at the Massachusetts Department
of Correction and the University of Rhode Island. He has extensive experience as a
K-12 school leader, including his role as principal of the Islamic School of Rhode
Island. He has held leadership positions such as president of the New England Council
of Islamic Schools, president of the Muslim Community of Kingston, RI, vice president
of the RI Council of Muslim Advancement, and board director of Greater Providence
YMCA. Dr. Hussein co-founded Partners in Peace, which evolved into BRIJ (Building
Relationships: Islam & Judaism) in collaboration with Brown University students. He
is an active member of both the Muslim and interfaith communities.
