Notes:

  1. This list does not include all contact hours, just the most common at UHD, determined by your College.
  2. PT=UHD pays 50% of employee health insurance premiums and 25% of the cost for dependents.
  3. FT=UHD pays 100% of employee health insurance premiums and 50% of the cost for dependents.
  4. Eligibility is subject to change each semester; please review the impact and take necessary actions.
    • Example A. In the fall you worked 16 standard working hours and the spring you worked 24 standard working hours, you can elect benefits by contacting the benefits team
    • Example B. In the fall you worked 32 standard working hours and in the spring you work 24 standard working hours, you will now have to pay 50% of health insurance premiums, you may drop coverage by contacting the benefits team.
  5. Employees eligible in the spring will have benefits in the summer. Be advised summer premiums come out of your last two spring paychecks, so your checks will be less than usual.
  6. Sick leave is prorated based on FTE
  7. Unless you are TRS retiree, you must contribute to a retirement plan. TRS is the default plan (ORP is available only to employees working 40 standard working hours).
  8. Some employees who are not eligible for benefits may contribute to TRS because they are in a TRS-eligible position at another state agency at the same time. Please notify us immediately to ensure you contribute; we may have to retroactively collect if we are not notified on a timely basis
  9. If you are teaching at another UHS university, please notify the benefits team immediately, as you may be eligible for benefits based on your combined standard working hours.
  10. This chart is for faculty teaching these contact hours for a full semester. It does not include faculty teaching part of a term or corporate fellows.
  11. To be benefits eligible, the employee must work 20+ standard working hours each week for at least 4.5 months
