Job Summary

The Benefits and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and promoting employee benefits and wellness programs, including health, retirement, and wellness initiatives. The Coordinator serves as ADA and Worker's Compensation Coordinator, ensuring compliance and managing related claims.

Duties

  • Creates and coordinates a comprehensive wellness program encompassing physical, emotional, financial, intellectual, and social wellness. Conducts surveys and assessments to identify wellness needs and priorities.
  • Organizes and promotes all wellness activities and increases awareness and engagement. Works closely with the communications teams on all benefits and wellness communications. Encourages employee participation in wellness programs through incentives, challenges, and recognition programs.
  • Manages relationships with external benefits and wellness providers and ensures community engagement by creating communications and programming. Partners with the Wellness Committee to ensure cohesiveness and develop university-wide initiatives. Work closely with management and other departments to integrate wellness initiatives into the university culture. Collaborates with UHS wellness partners.
  • Monitors program participation, tracks key metrics, and evaluates the effectiveness of wellness initiatives. Seeks opportunities to continue to improve wellness and engagement programs for the university.
  • Processes fitness release time and wellness leave programs.
  • Coordinates the process of providing reasonable accommodation for employees with disabilities. Provides training and support to staff regarding ADA requirements.
  • Coordinates the claims process related to workplace injuries or illnesses, ensuring compliance with laws and policies. The role involves coordinating communication between employees, the State Office of Risk Management, and healthcare professionals and overseeing claims from initial reporting to closure.
  • Provides frontline assistance and support for employees navigating the benefits enrollment process.
  • Responds to basic benefits-related inquiries and direct employees to appropriate resources as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree

Required Experience: License/Certification:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related job experience None

  • Strong understanding of health principles, nutrition, exercise science, mental health, and work-life balance.
