Job Summary
The Carpenter Apprentice IV supports the Carpenters with work orders, renovations, and other general repairs throughout the university.
Duties
- Installs lower and upper cabinets.
- Installs door frames and hangs doors.
- Assists the Renovations Carpenter with floor lay-outs of walls, doors, and windows.
- Assists the Operations Carpenter to install carpet tiles and floor bases.
- Repairs seats, furniture, and restroom accessories.

Qualifications
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
- Must have completed 6000 hours of work as a Carpenter Apprentice I-III.
- Must have earned a satisfactory grade on the Carpenter Apprentice III Competency Exam.
License/Certification:
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.

Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an inside and outdoor environment.
Physical Demands:
- Work is often performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements; work involves some exposure to elements, such as adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, and airborne particles. Position requires maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time, as well as for bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, jumping, climbing, and frequent overhead and horizontal reaching. Position has occasional exposure to the physical risks associated with demolition and construction. May, on rare occasions, be required to work in a confined space or in a high, dangerous place. May be exposed to vibration or noise. Must have precise hand-eye coordination, good spatial awareness, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Must have the ability to move items of up to 60lbs. Must have the ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance. May occasionally be required to drive or operate university vehicles. Required to be on call 24 hours per day for general maintenance incidents.
