Job Summary
The Executive Director, Academic Affairs is responsible for organizing and supervising activities of the Provost and Provost's Office operations. The Executive Director provides university-wide coordination for the achievement of strategic direction, goals and initiatives for the Provost.
Duties
- Serves as a senior advisor to the provost, providing advice, context, and background information on issues, and liaising with other campus officials on all matters of interest to the provost; organizes and prioritizes critical issues and provides the provost with the information required to facilitate efficient decision making
- Provides oversight and leadership on key internal and external institutional projects and initiatives, monitoring and following progress, and ensuring that appropriate follow up actions are taken to ensure timely and successful completion
- Triages incoming inquiries, ensuring that each inquiry is appropriately referred and resolved in a timely manner in accordance with applicable policies and procedures
- Ensures that executive support staff are suitably prepping the provost for meetings, are following up on matters as necessary, and are managing the provost's calendar and time appropriately
- Assists with policy recommendation, implementation, and interpretation, as well as ensuring that policies are updated as needed
- Reviews and advises the provost on curriculum proposals and serves as ex-officio member of University Curriculum Committee
- Assists in the recruitment, selection, and training and supervision of support staff who comprise the Provost's Office.
- Supports the Provost for select internal and external meetings, including development of agendas, creation of briefings and presentations, and organization context and history, as needed.
- Partners with members of the Academic Affairs leadership and serves on internal/external committees to establish and achieve organizational goals.
- Manages and executes special projects for the Provost

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with 30 hours of graduate credit
Required Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related job experience
- Experience which includes leading and managing administrative and strategic initiatives
License/Certification:
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license

- Terminal degree

- Directs administration of the organizational unit's budget to ensure effective utilization of financial resources and compliance with federal, State, and university policies and procedures.
- Approves disbursement of funds consistent with the organizational unit's budget.
- Monitors status of organizational unit's budget, and directs the resolution of deficiencies and/or discrepancies.
Organizational Engagement
- Positively represents organizational unit to internal and external constituents in support of the organizational unit's efforts and in recognition of its accomplishments.
- Coordinates with other university administrators to collaborate endeavors across organizational units.
- Builds rapport with external constituents to advance the organizational unit's goals and objectives and engage the community with the university's efforts to address the needs and advance the development of the region.
- Competently responds to audits and requests from governmental entities and UH-System on behalf of the organizational unit.
