Job Summary
The Instructional Designer promotes innovation, efficiency, and student engagement in online or face-to-face university courses, by utilizing tools and skills to design and develop quality courses that reinforce student learning and meet desired outcomes.
Duties
- Provides instructional design support to faculty through consultation with individuals and collaborative course design teams
- Assists faculty in the development of course materials for delivery of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses
- Assists faculty with the conversion of face-to-face courses to hybrid and online formats
- Collaborates, assists, develops, and participates in the facilitation of professional development workshops and symposia, particularly with regard to course design, online teaching, and technology-enhanced instruction

Qualifications
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design or related field
Required Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of related job experience, including teaching experience
License/Certification:
- None required
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree is preferred;
- Quality Matters (QM) and/or Online Learning Consortium (OLC) certification in online course design and/or delivery is preferred;
- Experience providing instructional design support using Canvas, Blackboard, and/or Brightspace D2L is preferred;
- Experience in designing learning environments for FTIC students and underrepresented student groups is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of instructional design across modalities (i.e., face
- to
- face, hybrid, and online courses), and the related trends, issues, and accepted practices
Skills:
- Good technical skills, including proficiency in Adobe and in Learning Management Systems;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
