With the 2024 Staff Awards Ceremony set to take place on Tuesday, July 16, we thought it apropos to look back at one of last year's awardees and once again recognize them for their dedication not just to excellence in their field, but to their colleagues and, of course, to UHD.
Without further ado, Jesus Kargue.
Kargue, Video Production Specialist I, has been with UHD for nearly five years, and was recognized with the Goes the Extra Mile Award during the 2023 Staff Awards Ceremony (one of only five staff members recognized with a Staff Impact Award).
As its name implies, the award recognizes recipients for consistently going above and beyond what is required in performing their job duties and responsibilities. Kargue was also noted to have made a major impact on many important university events, during which his outstanding work was on display.
Kargue says that, when it comes to such events, his duties involve providing multimedia support, though another important duty of his is to help faculty create academic video content. In other words, Kargue's work enables faculty to enhance their classroom offerings and provide valuable material for online classes.
Prior to joining UHD, Kargue worked as a freelance videographer and photographer who contributed to the award-winning short film Spring Branch Chronicle. He graduated from Houston Community College in 2018, with his associate degree in film/cinema/video studies. He has another degree in recording arts technology, also from HCC.
Kargue says his favorite thing about UHD is the Gators and Gator community.
Huzzah!
