For 23 seasons, American children garnered a love of reading from the PBS Kids series “Reading Rainbow.” It was the most-watched PBS program inside classrooms.
Last spring, UHD alum Bradford Thomason (’04, English) saw the release of his documentary “Butterfly in the Sky, which chronicles the journeys of the broadcasters, educators. and film makers who believed television could inspire a lifelong love of reading with “Reading Rainbow.”
Now, as part of the 50th Anniversary President’s Lecture Series, the award-winning documentary director, editor, and producer returns to UHD at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, to talk about the film and share what he has learned throughout his career as the editor of seven feature documentaries and the co-director of three films.
Join the UHD community in A300 for an engaging moderator-led discussion with Thomason to gain insights into the film industry, hear behind-the-scenes stories, and learn about the journey from UHD to the big screen.
After the talk, there will be a special screening of “Butterfly in the Sky” at 1 p.m.
