It's election season, a time when it's crucial, necessary, even, to be informed about issues that matter to oneself and one's community. Health care, climate change, and abortion rights are top of mind for many, as is the US southern border. How, though should we approach these issues? How should we go about making our decisions, decisions that have far-reaching implications? Two ways are to attend upcoming events hosted by UHD's Center for Public Deliberation (CPD) and Student Government Association (SGA).

Public Deliberation: Challenges at the US-Mexico Border

11 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21

A300

The CPD is hosting a thought-provoking public deliberation on the complex issues facing the US-Mexico border, bringing together local candidates, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to share perspectives and engage in respectful dialogue. Attendees will participate in small group discussions.

The event is sponsored by the CPD, emPOWERed YOUth, SGA, UHD Rising, the Center for Latino Studies, City of Houston Housing & Community Development, and the Texas Conservative Liberty Forum.

Preregistration is required, and make sure you explore the CPD's issue guide before attending!
