From 5:30-7:30 p.m. in room C100, UHD’s College of Public Service (CPS), Houston-area teachers, aspiring educators, parents and community partners will come together for a thought-provoking panel discussion on a myriad of topics facing educational institutions in Texas and specifically the Bayou City. The event will have options to attend virtually.
Hosted by Dr. Crystal White, UHD Assistant Professor of Urban Education, the panel features speakers ranging from Dr. Prestal Malloy, Pearland ISD’s Dawson High School Counselor and PISD parent, to Program Director of UHD’s DAIR to Teach Program and Houston Independent School District (HISD) parent, Vivian McKelvey. The expert-led panel will address campus safety concerns, solutions to teacher recruitment and retention issues, and social-emotional learning strategies, while the featured speakers will tackle issues such as educational reform, school choice, and alternative assessments methods.
