The results of last week's student survey are in, and they're clear: UHD students want to hear more about the study abroad experience, and they also want to hear from the Office of Study Abroad. UHD's Office of Study Abroad offers options that fit a variety of student interests, including brief, faculty-led trips, semester-long immersion programs via affiliated universities, and exchange programs.
If you're interested but are asking yourself why you should study abroad, or how you can afford it, well...you aren't alone.

HOW DO I PAY FOR STUDY ABROAD?
- Remember: FAFSA and state financial aid may be applied to study abroad expenses.
- There's a UHD Travel Award Scholarship! It's a non-competitive application and the award may be as high as 65% of the program cost.
Eligibility:
- Students must have completed 12 hours at UHD at the time of application (9 hours for graduate students).
- Students must be enrolled at UHD for a minimum of three hours for the term abroad.
- Students must receive academic credit for the study abroad course or program.
- Students who are traveling to a country where there is a US State Department travel warning are not eligible to receive the award. Regions within travel warning countries that are specifically noted as not being subject to the warning will be considered.
- Students who require a visa for travel must show proof of timely visa application prior to the award disbursement.
- Students must clear any holds on their student accounts prior to award disbursement.
- Students must participate in a UHD-approved program.
- There are also funding sources specific to certain departments or programs, so be sure to check with your program or department's office to see what might be available.
- Don't forget to check national scholarships like Benjamin A. Gilman, Woman's Scholarship, Fulbright.
