UHD's student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA UHD) is no stranger to accolades. After celebrating an exceptional year in 2024, the student organization is back at it again, but this time on a global scale. Now, the chapter brings home not one but three outstanding awards from the 2025 AMA International Collegiate Conference (ICC) on April 3-5, 2025.

Ten Gators from the Marilyn Davies College of Business (MDCOB) traveled from the Bayou City to the Big Easy and made a splash at this year's event. UHD was one of more than 230 student collegiate chapters that attended the ICC in New Orleans, the largest in the conference's history. More than 150 universities from across the globe participated in the annual conference, from Indiana University to the University of Texas at Austin.

"We were honored to receive Outstanding Chapter Awards in two categories: Membership and Chapter Planning. These awards are especially meaningful because they recognize our strategic efforts to build a strong, inclusive chapter and effectively plan impactful events," said Nhu Le, President of UHD AMA. "Competing among 230+ collegiate chapters, this was the first time in our chapter’s history that we’ve received international recognition at this level."

The chapter's success was no easy feat. "Winning one is quite difficult," said AMA UHD Faculty Advisor and MDCOB Senior Lecturer Michael Pettiette, Ph.D. Only nine chapters, including UHD, received achievements in two categories. In addition to the chapter's stellar wins, Pettiette was honored with "Outstanding Faculty Paper" for their work titled "Role Conflict and Artificial Intelligence [AI] Efficacy: Practical Implications from Workplace to the Classroom."
