The University of Houston-Downtown recently reclaimed its Military Friendly® status, earning a Silver rating! That’s because UHD demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting the unique needs of its 500+ military-connected students.

“UHD is indeed a Military Friendly school in part because of our flexible class schedules, including online and hybrid options, and our personalized academic advising to accommodate military commitments,” said Martin Navarro (US Army), Assistant Director of Veteran Services Office. The Veterans Services Office assists with navigating benefits, including the GI Bill, disability, healthcare, and state benefits, and connecting students with on- and off-campus resources and veteran-specific scholarships. With a focus on affordability, academic excellence, and tailored support, UHD empowers military-connected students to achieve their educational and career goals.

In addition, UHD’s Veterans Services Office helps military families access education benefits, basic needs resources, supportive services, and scholarships for dependents.

The Military Friendly ratings are based on public and proprietary data from the annual Military Friendly® survey, available at no cost to institutions nationwide. Survey topics are developed with input from an independent Advisory Council of experts in veteran education. The scoring process is fully automated.
