As UHD’s new Title IX/Equal Opportunity Officer, Brandon Lee is driven by a profound commitment to fostering a campus environment where every individual is valued, heard, and treated with dignity. His approach goes beyond mere compliance—it's about building genuine understanding and connection across the dynamic UHD community.
Lee possesses a remarkable talent for bridging differences and creating spaces where dialogue flourishes. Whether working with students or employees, he has an extraordinary ability to help people see beyond their initial perspectives, finding the common humanity that unites them. From his office in Suite S370 in the One Main Building, Lee shared that his work is rooted in the belief that “when people truly listen to one another, mutual respect becomes not just a possibility, but a reality.”
The Office of Title IX/Equal Opportunity Services acts on behalf of the university as a neutral fact finder that enforces the university's Sexual Misconduct & Equal Opportunity Policies. The Office is additionally charged with the processing of all inquiries and complaints concerning sexual misconduct and discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, disability, genetic information and/or veteran status. Lee makes sure that both the complainant and respondent are heard and emphasizes that both parties have rights.
Lee may be relatively new to UHD (his first day was Dec. 2, 2024), but he’s no stranger to higher ed nor the University of Houston System. He comes to UHD after 12 years with University of Houston-Victoria. Even working as an undergraduate, Lee has always held leadership positions and has extensive experience in Title IX compliance, anti-discrimination policies, judicial services, and university housing operations.
He received his undergraduate Business Management in Information Systems degree and his MBA from Prairie View A&M. Together, he, his wife of 15 years, and three sons (ages 2, 8, and 14) are a “sports family” with basketball and baseball as main focal points. However, writing is what Lee does most these days during his “free” time as he is in the middle of pursuing his doctoral degree in Executive Educational Leadership from Houston Christian University.
