Imagine this: you are enjoying a beautiful meal with a loved one, co-worker, or friend. Inevitably someone brings up politics, and things get a little...heated. How do you share your beliefs without the conversation going south? The Center for Public Service and Community Research wants to equip you with the tools you need to have healthy, productive conversations with those around you who have opposing political views and belief systems.
On Friday, April 4, the university is hosting Braver Angels for a Red/Blue Workshop, a two-part intensive workshop aimed to bridge the divide between political parties, reduce stereotyped thinking, and help participants discover commonalities. Part one of the workshop invites attendees to get to know each other, while the second portion involves thoughtful and authentic moderated discussions between those who identify as "red" (conservative and/or republican) or "blue" (liberal and/or democrat). Not interested in joining the conversation? Attendees have the option to gain valuable insights as "observers" when registering for the event.
