This message is sent from the Office of the Provost to all UHD Faculty
Dear Instructors,
Thank you so very much for participating in the Fall Term Roster Certification project
this Fall! The numbers look very good: we saw, this term, more completed Roster Certification
reports and fewer non-attending students (relative to past terms). The Provost’s Office
is grateful to the collective faculty effort and for the leadership of the Department
Chairs, College Deans, and Registrar’s Office.
We concluded from this Roster Certification cycle that we will follow the same process, in Spring, with the addition of the part-of-terms (“8W1” and “8W2”). We are also exploring avenues for excluding independent studies and field experience sections, given the recent faculty feedback. If you have any additional thoughts on this plan, please pass them along to David Ryden rydend@uhd.edu.
This first chart illustrates the sharp decline in the number of rosters not submitted: 202 sections went unreported in Spring ‘24 while only 115 sections went unreported in Fall ‘24.
The second chart plots the decline in the number of students identified as non-attending (798 Spring ’24 vs. 461 Fall ‘24).
Last, in the third figure, we see that the number of students who were reported as non-attending in ALL of their classes fell slightly from 56 (Spring ’24) to 54 (Fall ’24).
We also thank the Advising Centers and Enrollment Management teams, who coordinated with the Registrar’s Office to effectively message and advise both students and faculty.
We plan to continue the roster certification process in the Spring Term as part of our ongoing efforts to promote student engagement, retention, and success. Again, thank you for your help.
