Healthcare Navigation Concentration

Healthcare occupations are projected to grow by 16% – 2.6 million jobs – over the next 10 years.  As the healthcare system grows, it is expected to become more difficulty to navigate due to its complex, creating a demand for professions that aid patients in overcoming barriers to receiving timely and quality healthcare.

The Healthcare Navigation concentration prepares students for careers in the healthcare field by providing the skills and competencies needed to assist patients in communicating with their healthcare providers, making informed health care decisions, and setting and achieving their healthcare goals.  The Healthcare Navigation concentration features coursework in:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Medical Case Management
  • Patient Advocacy
  • Community Health
  • Health Policy

Additionally, students in this concentration have the opportunity to complete an internship in the Healthcare Navigation field.  This is a great opportunity to engage with their community and build their career-related skills and networks.
