USGA Community Engagement Chair

Hi Gators! I’m a freshman philosophy major in the Honors Program, passionate about student engagement and community advocacy. I’ve had the opportunity to lead my own nonprofit and contribute to other organizations, as well as represent students through former Mayor Turner’s and Mayor Whitmire’s youth councils. Outside of volunteering and interning, I enjoy reading, discussing current world-wide matters/issues, and staying active through running and other types of exercises. I’m excited to be part of this amazing organization and look forward to supporting all students. Please feel free to reach out if you need anything!

I am Sha'Toiya Watts, Nursing major, Student Government Association (SGA) student engagement chair, Black Student Association (BSA) secretary, Campus Activity Board (CAB) secretary, National Scholars Collegiate Society (NSCS), Ambition in Motion mentor. I am a sophomore. Fun fact about me is I have my own non-profit, Genesis & Zechariah Foundation XXV, where I mentor human trafficking survivors. I love to cook and feed the less fortunate during the holidays.

 

Hannah Cuevas

USGA PR & Marketing Chair

Hello Gators, my name is Hannah Cuevas, and I’m a junior majoring in Accounting with a minor in International Business. I am a global citizen, with an entrepreneurial mindset and I love connecting with others. I am currently the Marketing & PR chair for the USGA, and in my free time I enjoy running, drawing, painting, and making music! One of my long-term goals is to be able to speak the five most commonly spoken languages in the world!

Nidhi Chavan

Hi everyone, my name is Nidhi Chavan and I am a current senior majoring in biology. I am the current Science and Technology Senator for the 2024-2025 Student Government Association. I love to read and watch (mostly catch up) Netflix shows in my free time. Some of my current shows are Agatha All Along on Disney+ and my current read is A Court of Throns and Roses!

Hi gators, my name is Alexis Beltran and I’m the CHSS Senator for the USGA. My major is Political Science and my Minor’s is in Translation. I’m a member of two esports team for UHD, the Blue Royals Overwatch and R6 Siege. Some of my hobbies include cooking, fashion, meditation and videogames !

Emily Martinez

Hi! I'm Emily Martinez, a Criminal Justice student at UHD and proud SGA Senator for the College of Public Service. I’m also the Vice President of Alpha Phi Sigma and the Professional Society of Criminal Justice Students, and I serve as Secretary for the CPS Gator Advisory Board. I work at the UHD Career Center as a Career Peer Advisor, helping students with their career goals. In my free time, I love making bracelets or diving into a good book.

Ignacio Lopez is a Senior here at University of Houston-Downtown. He is from Houston, Texas studying BusinessManagement at University of Houston-Downtown. Ignacio is a fellow entrepreneur at the Marilyn Davies school of business. He enjoys doing outdoor activities and spending family time. This is his first-year involvement with the Student Government Association and Student Enrollment Ambassadors.
