Library Services for Alumni & Visitors

Using Library Collections

Alumni and visitors may borrow books, videos, music discs, and audiobooks from the library.

Databases, e-journals, e-books, and online media are available for use in the library, but remote access is limited to current students and faculty.

Using Library Computers

Public Computers

  • Computers are available with a valid government-issued photo identification, such as a driver's license or passport.

  • High school students may present a school picture identification card and a letter from their teacher.

  • Use of library computers is limited to one hour session each day. Public Patrons must comply with university computing policies. 3.1 The University of Houston-Downtown Computing Systems exist to provide computing services to the UHD community in support of instruction, research, and other educational and work-related activities within its mission. 3.4 Users have the responsibility to use UHD’s Computing Systems in an effective, efficient, ethical, and lawful manner. The ethical and legal standards that are to be maintained are derived directly from standards of common sense and common decency that apply to the use of any public resource. Printing

Printing is available for University of Houston-Downtown alumni, current students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and visitors from affiliated universities.  To be seated at a printing computer, present a current identification card from:

  • UHD Alumni Association (issued by Sports & Fitness)
  • University of Houston 
  • University of Houston-Clear Lake
  • University of Houston-Victoria
  • Lone Star College

If you are a prospective student, present a current driver's license, state identification card, or passport, and our library staff will gladly provide access to a computer with printing.

Unattended Children

For their own safety, children and young teens must be supervised at all times by a parent or another responsible adult. Staff will notify the police of any unattended child.
