Jim Seigler Exhibition

The O'Kane Gallery is proud to partner with Hyde Park Gallery to celebrate the work of artist Jim Seigler in this first of two exhibitions celebrating his artistic designs for the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus. The O'Kane and Hyde Park Galleries cordially invite you to join us as we run away with the circus!

Jim Seigler's early career as a circus set designer has inspired his award winning mixed-media work. After graduating from The Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida, Jim spent several seasons designing sets, floats and costumes for the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey Circus. This experience exposed him to the use of strong color and figure movement - characteristics that are strong influences in his work today.

The circus comes alive in this show which includes Jim Seigler's original sketches from the 1950s and travels into the present day with some wonderful new paintings and sculptures referencing these early sketches. The O'Kane Gallery at University of Houston - Downtown will be highlighting his historical circus works this fall.
