Training and Other Resources
There are several training resources available to UHD community about accessibility.
UHD Accessible Education Center - The Accessible Education Center provides accommodations, academic adjustments and/or auxiliary aids and services to UHD students who have temporary or permanent health impairments, physical limitations, psychological disorders, or learning disabilities. The Accessible Education Center staff members serve as liaisons between students and faculty, administrators, and community agencies.
UHD Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence - The CTLE serves as a hub of innovation, collaboration, and scholarship for the purpose of enhancing learning environments and optimizing ongoing student success initiatives through targeted faculty support. UHD CHSS Digital Accessibility Resources - UHD's College of Humanities and Social Sciences provides resources, information and helful tips on digital accessibility.
UHD Training provided by TTLC - Use the TTLC Training Request form to request formal training on accessibility in Canvas, Office and other software products. All TTLC trainers are TxDLA Digital Accessibility certified.
TAP Digital Accessibility Basics Course - The purpose of this course is to help UHD employees, especially digital content creators, developers, and owners, become familiar with digital accessibility. This course highlights the benefits, technologies and practices, and legal compliance of digital accessibility, as well as how to support it. It is available in the TAP portal.
Canvas: Accessibility Features & Student Accommodations Training Session - This 30-minute training covers accessibility features for both uploaded content and content created in Canvas. The training also covers settings for quiz accommodations.
Institute for Plain English Research and Study (IPERS) - The institute also offers resources, engages in research on the topic, and provides training sessions for UHD students, faculty, staff, and local professionals.
UH System Digital Accessibility Website - This website maintained by UH System provides information on digital accessibility to help each UHS component meet accessibility requirements.
LinkedIn Learning Online Training - UHD faculty and staff can log into LinkedIn Learning for unlimited free access to a vast online library of instructional videos designed to help anyone learn business, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and business goals.
W3C Tutorials - A collection of tutorials shows you how to develop web content that is accessible to people with disabilities, and that provides a better user experience for everyone.
W3Schools Accessibility Tutorial - Tutorial to learn the fundamentals of accessibility.
WebAIM Articles - Listing of articles that cover various topics regarding accessibility.
